The database of the certification committee cases deals with the personal cases of the public and non public servants’ political views and behaviour which were examined by special bodies (certification committees) after 1945 in Budapest and the outskirts of the city. The certification committees placed under this procedure the full staff of public institutions of the capital and those which had national competence (such as the ministries). Furthermore, the officials of the companies and private establishments were drawn to this as well.
The involved persons and the data of the procedures have been recorded in the database. Among the later the results of the examinations are the most crucial: the condemnation reflects for substantive examination and information-rich files (in the most of the certification cases only the certification statements filled and sent by the involved person can be found). These cases partly associated with the certification appeal (processed by the database of criminal procedures) created by the People’s Court of Budapest. Although only a small part of the materials of the certification committees has been recorded, but it covers more than 45,000 persons.
The data are available through only the inline the archival hierarchy. The personal cases can be ordered by reference number of the records (for example HU_BFL_XVII_1502_b_1945_igazolasiugy_4678). Cases of the persons (subject to certification) born after 1924 are subject to research restriction. The list of the archival collections belonging to the database can be found in the next table:
